Driver recounts tree falling on Greenville Co. school bus

GREENVILLE COUNTY, SC (WSPA) – A Greenville County bus driver who helped students after a tree fell on her bus said she feared the worst after the accident.

Brenda Copeland has been driving for Greenville County Schools for 15 year.

The school district released an interview with Copeland, who said she’d never experienced anything like what happened last Wednesday.

“My fear was… that those…looking back and not being able to see the kids,” Copeland said. “In my mind, I thought those students were dead.”

“I know that God was all over that bus. I know that God took care of that whole situation.”

Five students were taken to the hospital and since then three of those students have returned to school.

The other two students are waiting for medical clearance to go back to class.
