Drugs, gun found in vehicle of fmr. student at West Henderson HS


HENDERSON COUNTY, NC (WSPA) – Henderson County Sheriff’s Office deputies arrested a man after he was found with drugs and a firearm in a vehicle on West Henderson High School’s campus on Tuesday.

According to a post on the sheriff’s office’s Facebook page, a school resource deputy came came into contact with Christopher Brown, 17, a former student of the high school in a vehicle on the campus.

The deputy smelled an odor of marijuana while speaking with Brown and a search of his vehicle was conducted, which revealed 23 grams of marijuana, drug paraphernalia and a pistol.

Brown was charged with one felony count of possession of a weapon on an educational property, possession of more than half an ounce of marijuana, possession of drug paraphernalia and one misdemeanor count of failure to appear for possession of a weapon on an educational property from last year.

According to the post, Brown was charged last year by a school resource deputy for having a BB gun in his backpack at the Balfour educational campus and failed to appear in court.

Brown was taken to the Henderson County Jail, where he remains on a $6,500 secured bond.

He was scheduled to appear in District Court Wednesday in Henderson County.
