“Drunk, friendly” raccoons in Hendersonville actually sick

Hendersonville Police have received multiple calls about sick raccoons in people’s yards.

The raccoons will appear “drunk, wobbly, and even friendly,” according to Wildlife Biologist Justin McVey, but they actually have distemper.

They are asking you not to touch or feed the animals.

It is also suggested that your pets be up-to-date on all vaccines.

If your pet starts to show symptoms of being sick, you’re encouraged to take them to the nearest vet as soon as possible.
