GREENVILLE, SC (WSPA) – Duke Food Productions announced, Tuesday, that it is moving its headquarters to downtown Greenville. The company is moving its corporate offices to 600 S. Main Street, the new Falls Park Place building.

This is the third time in two days a Greenville company has made a major economic announcement.

“These are all new high paying job positions that we’re bringing downtown,” said Andrew Smart, the CEO.

He says the company has already started hiring sales, marketing and research and development staff.

Smart also says the move brings the company back to its roots.

“In 1917 Eugenia Duke started the business right here on main street, you know selling sandwiches to drug stores, textile mills and to a military camp as well. And so for us it was coming back to our origins, our history.”

Monday it was a similar story with UST Logistics. The transport company with a tech focus is also relocating its headquarters to Greenville. With that it brings 35 employees and plans to hire 15 more to work in the One Plaza on Main Street.

This week, Michelin also announced 350 new jobs and the construction of a new distribution center in the Upstate.

Mark Farris, the CEO of the Greenville Area Development Corporation says the mixture of both manufacturing expansion and also new “office jobs” is significant.

“Primarily we’re manufacturing and that’s our bread and butter, but we’re starting to see an evolution of the business climate here in the Upstate, seeing more and more corporate headquarters, more and more office projects and we’re excited to see that come to Greenville.”

Farris also adds he’s confident before the year is out, we’ll hear much more about investments and job creation in the Upstate.

So far this year, the Greenville Area has seen an investment of more than 250 million and added 1600 new jobs. Last year that was 435 million and 2200 jobs.

But the GADC says it has every reason to believe 2016 will round out on par with last year’s business investment.Visit here for more information.
