SPARTANBURG Co., S.C. (WSPA) — Troopers say a dump truck driver was hurt when his truck flipped in a crash on Interstate 85.

The wreck happened around 7:40 a.m. Tuesday on northbound I-85 at mile marker 77 near Boiling Springs.

S.C. Highway Patrol Lance Cpl. Joe Hovis said the truck driver was taken to a hospital with minor injuries. 

Hovis said the dump truck was headed north when the driver swerved to avoid hitting a vehicle that had slowed down. The truck hit the vehicle and overturned spilling rocks. 

7News crew on the scene said the driver of the car that was hit when the truck flipped is shaken but OK. 

Crews were redirecting traffic around the flipped truck.

Hovis said the dump truck driver will be cited with driving too fast for conditions.
