Escaped Greenwood Co. suspect caught

GREENWOOD Co., SC (WSPA) — Sheriff Dennis Kelly confirmed that a suspect escaped custody near the Greenwood County Detention Center earlier Friday, though the suspect has been caught sometime after 7 p.m.

Bloodhounds housed near the location where the suspect took off running were tracking the man as of 12:10 p.m. Friday.

The suspect has been identified as Steven Fendley.

The sheriff says they picked Fendley was picked up on a warrant for failure to appear. Court records show he’s charged with a couple of counts of burglary. 

Fendley was reportedly captured and returned to the detention center sometime Friday evening after 7 p.m.
