Escaped inmate in Rutherford Co. in custody

UPDATE: The Rutherford County Sheriff’s Office officials said an inmate who went missing from the Rutherford Correctional Center on Thursday is in custody.

RUTHERFORD Co., N.C. (WSPA) — Prison officials and law enforcement are searching for an inmate missing from the Rutherford Correctional Center.

The N.C. Department of Public Safety said Jeremy Keith Fincannon was discovered missing during a routine count around 7:30 a.m. Thursday.

Fincannon, 22, is a minimum custody inmate serving a sentence of five years and six months as a habitual felon on assault convictions.

He’s described as 6 feet tall, 171 pounds with blond hair and blue eyes.

Fincannon was admitted to prison on Jan. 25, 2017 and was scheduled for release in September. 

Anyone who sees Fincannon is asked to please call local law enforcement or Rutherford Correctional Center at 828-286-4121.
