Events for the first weekend in November

You have the opportunity to both celebrate and support independent film this weekend at the Reedy Reels Film Festival.

There will be comedies, documentaries, short and full length features. They’ll be split into sessions and there will be three today.

The first session starts at 2:30 p.m. and the last on Friday will be at 8:45 p.m. There are four sessions Saturday. The first Saturday event starts at 11 a.m. and the last is at 8:45 p.m.

To attend a single session admission costs $10, a one day pass is $30 and a full festival pass costs $50. It’s happening at the Peace Center Gunter Theatre in downtown Greenville.

On Wednesday the Christmas tree arrived at the Biltmore Estate near Asheville. Today, their holiday season officially begins.

The theme this year is the Hearth and the Home. It focuses on the home’s fireplaces.

The popular season tours start today and lasts until January 8th.

Tickets start at $65 and go up depending on whether it’s an evening tour or on the weekends. You can save $10 on admission if you buy them at least one week in advance.

Get a head start on your Christmas shopping and support the community for Santa’s Shoppe with the Junior League of Spartanburg.

It’s at the Expo Center on New Cut Road. In it’s 28th year, they’ll have over ninety regional vendors selling gifts and food.

Shop today from 9 a.m. until 5 p.m., tomorrow from 9 a.m. until 6 p.m. or Sunday from noon until 5 p.m.

Tickets are $7 at the door, and that gets you in all three days. Those tickets sales benefit children’s literacy, healthy eating programs and teacher grants.
