SAN FRANCISCO (KRON) – Emails and exclusive photos that were sent to a local newspaper reporter about the kidnapping case that’s gripping the Bay Area and the nation could prove it was not a hoax.
KRON 4’s Vicki Liviakis sat down with him to uncover the bizarre plot now unraveling. And so begins the rambling manifesto.
It’s a trail of emails sent by the kidnapper to mild mannered reporter Henry k. Lee.
“I’ve covered my share of crazy stories but this is top of the list,” Lee said. “You’ve got Ocean’s 11 references. You’ve got kidnappers who are referring to car thefts, and you’ve got a kidnap victim who shows up unharmed 400 miles in front of her parents house. You have all the makings of a true crime story.
But fact is stranger than fiction. And the story kept unfolding. One that now backs up victim Denise Huskins and her boyfriend.
“I was just stunned. ‘Is this denise’s voice on the audio?’ Lee said. In the days to come, I received many more emails from the purported kidnappers.”
Lee, who covers the crime beat for the San Francisco Chronicle said bore the FBI stepped in, even his editors found the emails and photos not credible and didn’t print them. He said some of the disturbing images now appear significant.
