Family of 5 out of home after Greenwood fire

GREENWOOD, S.C. (WSPA) — A family is out of their home after a fire in Greenwood.

The American Red Cross says volunteers are helping a family of five, including two children, following the house fire on Hall Avenue.

Greenwood City Fire Department said in a social media post that crews responded to the fire just before 12:30 p.m. Monday. 

Crews had the fire under control in about 15 minutes. 

The cause of the fire is under investigation as of Monday afternoon.

The Red Cross is helping the family with financial assistance for food, shelter and other essentials, according to a news release.
