A Fountain Inn family is mourning the loss of their 2-year-old German Shepherd after it was struck and killed by a letter carrier delivering a package.
“I had her since she was a baby,” said Chrissie Juarez, Osa’s owner. “She was like my own special little baby. I just loved her so much.”
Juarez says her teenage sons came out of the house and saw Osa lying on the ground near the garage and bleeding.
She believes it was an accident, but says the carrier left without informing her of the accident.
“All that just made it worse,” she said. “No letter. No phone call. He didn’t knock on the door. He didn’t blow the horn. He just took off.” went on about his route.
A spokesman for the United States Postal Service denies that, claiming the carrier reported the incident to his supervisor after he tried unsuccessfully to reach the family.
