Felony DUI charge in deadly crash in Anderson Co.


ANDERSON, S.C. (WSPA) – A man has been charged with felony DUI after a crash that killed a woman, Wednesday morning in Anderson.

29-year-old Jonathan Edward Hamby was driving a company vehicle when the crash happened Pearman Dairy Road (Highway 28 Bypass) at Getsinger Road near Westside High School.

Highway Patrol says Hamby’s truck crossed the median and hit a Chevrolet Trailblazer head on.

49-year-old Loretta Renee Pressley of Starr, the driver of the Trailblazer died in the crash and a young child in that vehicle was injured.

7News reached out to the Krut Systems, LLC in Anderson who says Hamby was employed as a lineman for the company.

The company released the following statement: We at the company would like to send out our deepest condolences to the family. We are looking into the cause for the accident.

Originally, the 4-year-old child’s injuries were reported to be non-life threatening, however the child’s injuries are said to be more severe than initially thought.

Hamby received a $80,000 surety bond for the felony of DUI death and felony DUI with bodily injury.

The South Carolina Highway Patrol is investigating the accident.
