Fire at Adams Scrap Recycling in Greenville accidental


GREENVILLE, SC (WSPA) – Officials said a fire happened at Adams Scrap Recycling on Old Easley Highway in Greenville Tuesday morning.

According to the Parker Fire District, the call about the fire came in after 9:15 a.m.

When firefighters arrived there was a heavy fire in the middle of the yard where they crush the cars.

The fire was under control around 10:15 a.m. and the fire department cleared the scene at 1:20 p.m.

During the 3-hour span, Highway 124 was shut down in order for fire crews to drag the hoses across the road.

The road has since reopened.

According to fire officials, the fire was classified as accidental. The cause of the fire has not yet been determined.

DHEC was called to the scene to hold the water runoff from going into a nearby creek. Booms were set up in the creek to help.
