LAKE LURE, NC (WSPA) – A fire damaged a large home along the shore of Lake Lure.
The fire happened Sunday afternoon at a home on Allen Drive.
Videos and pictures posted to social media showed flames shooting out of the roof of the lakefront home.
No one was home at the time.
Lake Lure Fire and Rescue Chief Ron Morgan said dozens of firefighters from six departments responded to the blaze.
Firefighters spent eight hours battling the house fire. 7News is told they cleared the scene around 1 a.m. Monday.
Chief Morgan said the house has two parts – a single-story section and a two-story section.
The single-story part was in flames when crews arrived. While that part of the home was destroyed, firefighters managed to save the two-story part despite difficult terrain and other challenges.
Crews used a fire boat and tankers to supply water since no hydrants are nearby.
Chief Morgan said the homeowner lives in Charlotte. Family members staying there had left earlier that day.
No one was reportedly hurt.
The cause of the fire remains under investigation.
