GAFFNEY, SC (WSPA) – A former Cherokee Co. Magistrate Office employee has been sentenced for embezzlement.
Online court records show Angela Mabry pleaded guilty to embezzlement of public funds more than $10,000 and received a sentence of 10 years, suspended to 2 years with 5 years probation and must pay restitution of $43,973.
Warrants said Mabry was in charge of the collection of money and processing payments for the Magistrate’s Office, as well as collecting money from other clerks and depositing them in the bank.
An audit revealed discrepancies between the amount of money Mabry received and the amount that was deposited in the bank, said the warrant.
The magistrate’s office says she is no longer an employee.
