A former Upstate deputy has been indicted in Florida.
On June 7th, authorities in Florida indicted former Biscayne Park Police Chief Ray Atesiano, former officer Raul Fernandez and former officer Charlie Dayoub.
The indictments state that the three conspired to falsify affidavits and documents that led to a false arrest for 4 burglaries from June to July in 2013. The indictments say this scheme was done to bolster crime success rates for the public.
In October of 2014, Dayoub started at the Simpsonville Police Department and worked as a K-9 handler. Starting in June of 2016, Dayoub transferred to the Greenville County Sheriff’s Office. The Sheriff’s Office says that Dayoub was terminated after they were made aware of the indictments.
The Sheriff’s Office states that they were never made aware of the investigation during the hiring process of Dayoub.
Both Simpsonville Police and The Sheriff’s Office are now conducting internal investigations to review all cases that Dayoub worked on.
