The National Park Service is offering free admission to everyone, regardless of military status, on Veterans Day. Entrance fees, commercial tour fees, and transportation entrance fees will be waived. Learn more.

Lemans Karting in Greenville will give veterans and active-duty service members a 20 percent discount off any Time Attack sessions by showing if they show an ID at the front desk.

Local

Upstate Salute Free Concert: Military veterans employed by GE, GHS, Michelin and the Greenville Drive are hosting SC Veterans Upstate Salute at Fluor Field at 5 p.m. today. This free event will include a Tracy Lawrence concert, 21-gun salute, fireworks and opportunities for veterans to learn about services that can help. There is no cost to attend, but registration is required at upstatesalute.com.

Greenville Veterans Day Ceremony: A ceremony honoring veterans starts at 10 a.m. at Greenville County Square on University Ridge. American Legion Post 3 Past Commander Chuck Rouse will emcee the ceremony.

Spartanburg Veterans Day Parade: The Veteran’s Day Parade will be held in downtown Spartanburg. It starts at 4 pm at Mt. Moriah Baptist Church at 445 S. Church Street and will end at the Spartanburg Memorial Auditorium.  It’s sponsored by the Veteran’s of Foreign Affairs Office. “VETERANS DAY”… HONORS ALL WHO SERVED… IN THE U-S ARMED FORCES. ITS OFFICIAL OBSERVANCE… IS ON THE -11TH- DAY… OF THE -11TH- MONTH… MARKING THE ANNIVERSARY… OF THE END OF WORLD WAR ONE.

Easley Vet Day: American Legion Post 52 and Robinson Memorial Gardens, 1425 Powdersville Road, Easley, SC 29642 will host their yearly Veterans Day Ceremony November 11, 2016 11:00 am. Marine Reserve (Battle Director) Colonel Dwight Schmidt is our scheduled speaker. He is a veteran of Afghanistan and Iraq. When on duty he flies F-18’s. This year we will recognize veterans of Desert Storm, Afghanistan and Iraq.

Asheville Vet Day: The Charles George VA Medical Center will honor Veterans on Veterans Day, November 11 with a ceremony at the Charles George VA Medical Center. Beginning at 11 a.m., the ceremony will feature keynote speaker Nicholas Warr, a former Marine, Vietnam Veteran and author. Some highlights of the ceremony will include a releasing of doves and a 21 gun salute. Everyone in the community is invited to attend.

GHS Veterans: More than 100 people will gather outside of the main entrance to Greenville Memorial Hospital at 11 a.m. Veterans Day to recognize GHS employees who served and those who sacrificed their lives for the United States. GHS’ annual Veterans Day Ceremony is organized by GHS employees, and veterans groups from across the community also take part. The community is welcome. The event includes speeches, a 21-gun salute, antique military vehicles. GHS will also unveil donations made to the Blue Star Mothers for their holiday collection drive.

Lander University’s Veterans’ Day Ceremony on Friday, Nov. 11, at 2 p.m. District 14 House Representative Mike Pitts will be the featured speaker during Lander University’s Veteran’s Day ceremony on Friday, Nov. 11. The program, which is free and open to everyone, begins at 2 p.m. in the Josephine B. Abney Cultural Center Auditorium and will be followed by a reception for attendees. Veterans will also be admitted free to that day’s 4:30 p.m. Volleyball Military Appreciation Game (Lander vs. Augusta) and the 8:30 p.m. Basketball Military Appreciation Game (Lander vs. Brevard in the Bearcat Classic Tournament).

Free Day at the Lake: Day use fees will be waived at Hartwell and J. Strom Thurmond projects for veterans, active and reserve component service members, and their families on Veterans Day, Nov. 11, as a small token of appreciation for bold sacrifices. The waiver covers fees for boat launch ramps and swimming beaches. The waiver does not apply to camping and camping-related services, or fees for specialized facilities such as group picnic shelters. Other agencies that manage recreation areas on U.S. Army Corps of Engineers lands are encouraged, but not required, to offer the waiver in the areas that they manage.
