Cyclists are coming together to improve safety and increase awareness when it comes to sharing the road.

Freewheelers of Spartanburg, a non-profit organization, is holding a Ride for Safety on July 4th to honor three of their own.

Josh Duncan, Jeff Pierce, and Dale Willenberg were killed in 2016.

The ride’s theme this year is “Be Seen” and will help raise funds to support safety initiatives.

There’s a 10, 22, and 44-mile option for riders.

Registration opens at 7 a.m. Wednesday, July 4th and the ride starts at 8:30 a.m.

It costs $20 if you register beforehand and $25 the day of.

The Ride for Safety is happening at Lake Blalock Park in Chesnee.
