Funeral arrangements announced for fmr. US Rep. Liz Patterson

SPARTANBURG, SC (WSPA) – Funeral arrangements for former U.S. Rep. Elizabeth “Liz” Patterson have been announced.

Patterson represented South Carolina’s fourth Congressional district from 1987 to 1993.

She died Saturday at her Spartanburg home at the age of 78.

A visitation will be held from 5 p.m. to 7 p.m. Saturday, Nov. 17 at Floyd’s Greenlawn Chapel on East Main Street in Spartanburg. The funeral will be held at 3 p.m. Sunday, Nov. 18 at Central United Methodist Church on North Church Street in Spartanburg.

Patterson also served as a member of the Spartanburg County Council and the S.C. State Senate prior to her three terms in Congress.

Her service extended beyond politics.

Patterson served on several boards, including the Charles Lea Center, Bethlehem Center, Spartanburg Boys Home and others, according to an obituary.

She was also an active member of Center United Methodist Church of Spartanburg.
