GAFFNEY, SC (WSPA) – Gaffney Police Department officials are asking religious organizations and the community to be aware of a rash of catalyic converter thefts happened in surrounding counties.
According to the police department’s Facebook post, churches in Cleveland, Shelby, Gaston and Mecklenburg counties have reported been targeted in regards to catalytic converter thefts.
“The primary vehicles involved have been Ford 15-passenger vans. We encourage all churches and businesses to take extra measures to protect their vans/property. If you have security cameras, make sure they are operating correctly. We also recommend church staff and pastors check your vehicles to insure they haven’t been vandalized yet and if so, contact your local 911 ASAP.”
According to the post, two men in an apple red Dodge Durango are believed to be responsible for the majority of the thefts in Cleveland County.
Anyone who sees suspicious activity around your church or surrounding property is asked to call local authorities.
