Gas thrown in woman’s face during carjacking attempt in Pendleton

PENDLETON, SC (WSPA) – Pendleton Police say a man threw a cup of gasoline in a woman’s face and tried to take her car Saturday morning.

Just before 11am, police say a man approached the woman as she was leaving her car on East Main Street, threw a cup of gasoline in her face and snatched her keys.

After failing to find the right key to start the car, the man ran from the scene leaving the car and the keys behind, police say.

Pictures of the suspect were taken during the attempted carjacking.

Anyone with information on the suspect is asked to call Anderson Co. Dispatch at 864-260-4444.
