(WTNH) – Girl Scouts U.S.A. announced Tuesday that they are adding a brand new cookie for their 2019 cookie sales.
The very popular cookie lineup will be bolstered with the latest flavor: Gluten-Free Caramel Chocolate Chip.
According to the Girl Scouts, the gluten-free cookie features caramel, semi-sweet chocolate chips, and “a hint of sea salt in a chewy cookie.” It will also be joined by Toffee-tastic, another gluten free cookie introduced briefly in 2015.
Both flavors will only be available in certain Girl Scout markets while supplies last. The specialty cookies may be slightly more expensive than the usual varieties, and are only available through sale by a registered Girl Scout.
News 8 spoke with Kassondra Mangione, Communications & Public Relations Specialist for Girls Scouts of Connecticut, who confirmed that Toffee-tastic cookies will be available in Connecticut in 2019. Unfortunately, the Gluten-Free Caramel Chocolate Chip will not be available in Connecticut, but Mangione explained why Connecticut is Toffee-tastic instead.
“Girl Scouts of Connecticut is looking forward to another year of girls preparing for a lifetime of leadership. Currently, two commercial bakers are licensed by Girl Scouts of the USA: ABC Bakers and Little Brownie Bakers. Girl Scouts of Connecticut will continue to offer Little Brownie Baker’s gluten-free cookie, Toffee-tastic®, this cookie season. The new Caramel Chocolate Chip cookie, which is produced by ABC Bakers, will be available in other select markets. We are excited that Girl Scouts is able to provide customers with gluten-free cookie options and the opportunity to support young entrepreneurs.”
