COLUMBIA, SC (WSPA) – Governor Nikki Haley updated the media on Hurricane Matthew preparations in South Carolina.
The news conference is expected to begin at 6pm.
Gov. Haley says lane reversals on I-26 will end Friday. She says 280,000 have been evacuated from coastal areas as a result of the storm. Over 100,000 of which evacuated Thursday morning.
During the news conference, it was announced 2,000 National Guard members have been activated to assist during the storm. 3,000 more have been put on standby to be ready.
Several coastal counties have been evacuated in anticipation of the dangerous category 4 hurricane.
The storm is expected to impact the state Friday evening through Saturday.
