Grandmother charged after missing child case in Greenville

GREENVILLE, SC (WSPA) – Police have charged a woman after a two-year-old went missing in Greenville, Monday.

50-year-old Michelle Matthews was arrested and charged with two counts of Cruelty to Children.

According to warrants, Matthews admitted to using an illegal substance while she was caring for her grandchild.

Matthews also admitted to taking the child to another home and failing to notify the child’s mother.

The 2-year-old was reported missing after the toddler’s mother could not get in contact with Matthews.

Matthews and the toddler were found safe Monday afternoon.
