Greenville Co. man killed after truck overturns, hits tree

TRAVELERS REST, SC (WSPA) – One man died after his pickup truck went off Geer Highway before overturning and hitting a tree.

Authorities say the man lost control of the truck before crashing near Circle Drive around 7:20 p.m. Sunday.

The Greenville County Coroner’s Office identified the driver as 60-year-old Louis Reyes of Marietta.

According to the S.C. Highway Patrol, Reyes’ truck went off the left side of Highway 276 and down an embankment before it overturned and hit a tree.

Authorities say Reyes had to be freed from the truck.

He was flown to Greenville Memorial Hospital where he later died from his injuries.

Troopers say Reyes was wearing a seat belt at the time of the accident.

The accident remains under investigation by the Highway Patrol and the Greenville County Coroner’s Office.
