Greenville Co. Schools cancel some field trips due to potential ice, flooding

GREENVILLE, SC (WSPA) – Greenville Co. Schools are canceling field trips headed north into Winter Weather Warning areas tomorrow, according to Director of Communications, Beth Brotherton.

They are monitoring the forecast for winter weather and flooding that could impact schedules on Thursday and Friday.

There is a flash flood watch from noon to 7 p.m. Thursday.

They are monitoring rain fall and will adjust bus routes that travel through low-lying areas if needed. 

Any family impacted by any changes will be contacted individually.

A winter weather advisory is in effect from 7 p.m. Wednesday to 1 p.m. Thursday.

The northern part of Greenville Co. and higher elevations have a potential for ice on roads.

Brotherton said they will evaluate the roads at 4 a.m. Thursday in areas around the state line and higher elevations such as Callahan, Glassy Mountain and Paris Mountains.
