Greer CPW and South Carolina 811 host mock line strike

Greer CPW is held a mock line strike today, to show you the dangerous consequences of hitting a utility line when you dig.
The event was put on by South Carolina 811 Call Before You Dig.

Enertech LLC helped to demonstrate a natural gas line being hit and how to respond to the situation. They are a small KS based company that works directly alongside pipeline operators and 811 to provide public awareness, liaison, damage prevention and integrity management programs that promote pipeline safety and awareness and education on safe digging.

Organizers with Grer CPW said more than 150 utility members attended for both the classroom and mock line strike demonstration and to learn more about properly locating underground utilities through SC 811.

Although this is not a public event, organizers said general contractors, excavators, utility company representatives, emergency responders were encouraged to attend.
