Greer Farmers Market opens for second season, downtown

Local vendors and farmers are bringing their goods to the Greer Farmers Market opening Thursday April 7, 2016 for the second year.

Vendors will set up at 300 Randall Street near downtown Greer and will be there from 4-7 pm.

Market Director Christy Ray said the economic development organizers in Greer were thrilled to hear she wanted to set up a local market.

Ray said it’s important to allow those living in and based out of Greer to be able to sell and grow for their own community.

“It’s a great way to create the community within our community. It’s all about interacting with one another and getting to know who makes your food and who makes your products.  I think people are tired of not knowing what we are eating,” Ray said.

You can expect to find local and regional cheeses at the market including Cheesy Pleasures and Humble Roots.

Humble Roots pimento cheese is made from a family recipe and available in many different flavors.

Cheesy Pleasures is made up of cheeses from all over the Southeast, many that you will only find at the market.

Padula’s Plants offers herbs and plants you can take home and grow in your own garden, or gift.

Super Nola Natural offer all natural products like granola made with only pure, superfoods.

Southern Hills Lavender takes the healing powers of Lavender and mixes it with products you can use daily or throughout your home.

Upstate Greens and Silver Lake Farm take pride in mixing growing knowledge with great taste as they showcase some of their best goods at the market on Thursday.

Farquhar and Sons Woodworking will be stationed near some of the food vendors to showcase how their wooden cutting boards and cheese boards pair great with other items.
