GREER, S.C. (WSPA) — A Greer man is facing several charges after he was accused of beating a woman in a wheelchair, attacking a postal worker, and threatening deputies.

Lloyd Steven Godfrey, 59, of Greer is charged with abuse of a vulnerable adult, two counts of threatening public official, resisting arrest with assault, four counts of assault, and property crimes, according to jail records.

Spartanburg County sheriff’s deputies responded to a disturbance on Gap Creek Road on Sunday morning.

According to an incident report, deputies found Godfrey shirtless and arguing with a neighbor before he smacked the man’s face.

Deputies say Godfrey resisted arrest – struggling as they attempted to handcuff him – and stated he had a gun and was going to shoot them.

Witnesses said Godfrey attacked a woman in a wheelchair, a postal worker and several others.

The report says a postal worker was delivering packages when he saw a man beating a woman in a wheelchair. As the postal worker tried to call 9-1-1, the suspect, identified in the report as Godfrey, hit him several times and tried grabbing the phone before targeting the older lady again.

The postal worker and a bystander blocked Godfrey who threw a 6X4 plank before approaching the postal worker with a brick.

Witnesses told deputies Godfrey busted out two windshields and assaulted two other women.

As of Monday, Godfrey remains in the Spartanburg County jail.
