LAURENS COUNTY, S.C. (WSPA) – A man died Tuesday from a crossbow self-inflicted wound when deputies said they were attempting to serve a warrant.

Deputies responded to the 2200 block of Indian Mound Road to serve a warrant for criminal sexual conduct according to the Laurens County Sheriff’s Office.

The sheriff’s office said the man barricaded himself in the home with a crossbow.

The Laurens County Sheriff’s Office SWAT team responded and attempted to take the man into custody.

Deputies were later able to enter the home where they found the man with a self-inflicted wound to the chest.

The coroner’s office said the man, 57-year-old Keith William Dramstad, died at the scene.

His death is being ruled as a suicide.

The South Carolina Law Enforcement Division is assisting with the investigation.
