MCDOWELL COUNTY, NC (WSPA) – McDowell County Sheriff’s Office officials said a search is underway for a convicted sex offender.

According to a sheriff’s office news release, detectives charged Joshua Kyle Martin, 33, of Old Fort, with a felony sex offender registry violation for failing to report a new address.

Martin is also wanted for a parole violation and unauthorized use of a motor vehicle.

An investigation revealed that Martin left his home on Thanksgiving Day and has not registered a new address, which law requires within three business days of a move.

According to the release, Martin was convicted for four counts of third-degree sexual exploitation of a minor in McDowell County on Feb. 10, 2015. He was sentenced to one year and five months in prison and was released on Aug. 31, 2015. After his release, he registered as a sex offender on Sept. 1, 2015.

Anyone with information on Martin’s whereabouts is asked to call Det. Paul Alkire at 828-652-2237, Probation/Parole Officer Anna Cable at 828-652-5085 or McDowell County Crime Stoppers at 65-CRIME (652-7463).
