Help deputies find copper wire theft suspects in Greenwood Co.


GREENWOOD COUNTY, SC (WSPA) – The Greenwood County Sheriff’s Office deputies are searching for the people responsible for stealing copper wire from power poles throughout the county.

According to a sheriff’s office Facebook post, the thefts took place in multiple area, including Nation Road, Pembroke Road and Scotch Cross Road.

Deputies believe that the suspects are using a white unmarked bucket truck.

According to the post, Duke Power officials said stealing copper wire from the power lines is increasing the possibility of outages, as well as creating a dangerous situation for customers, the public and Duke Power crews.

“This type of activity is extremely dangerous and illegal,” according to the post.
