Human remains found where missing woman was last seen in Greenville Co.

GREENVILLE Co., S.C. (WSPA) - - On Friday, Greenville County Coroners, Greenville County Sheriff's Office deputies and a forensics team discovered unidentified human remains. This was nearly 12 hours into digging up the backyard of a home where a missing Anderson County woman was last seen in late May.

On Thursday, the Greenville County Sheriff's Office Violent Crimes Unit announced they were searching for Stacy Davidson Carmack, 45, last seen between May 28 and 29 in the Piedmont community of Greenville County.

According to investigators, Carmack was reported missing on June 13.

Police believe foul play is involved in Carmack's disappearance, but have not said why.

On Friday, the Greenville County Coroner's Office was following up on leads at the home on the 100 block of Oakvale Drive, where Carmack was last seen. Late Friday night, investigators recovered unidentified human remains.

Greenville County deputies confirmed the home on Oakvale Drive is now part of their investigation.

The owner of the home, where the remains were recovered, says he was renting the property to his sons, who are no longer there. On Friday, the owner would not tell 7News where his sons are now.

"They're your sons?" Asked 7News Reporter Brianna Smith.

"Yes, but they're not here. I checked this morning." The homeowner said.

One neighbor 7News spoke to says the tenants and landlord are good people.

"Did you know the family?" Asked 7News Reporter Stefany Bornman.

"Yes," said the neighbor, who asked to remain anonymous.

"What did you know about them?" Asked 7News Reporter Stefany Bornman.

"Well I have nothing, but good things to say about them." She said.

Deputies say in recent weeks they've served a search warrant on the home and had even brought a forensic team along.

Activity that caught the attention of one neighbor.

"There was one down there a couple of days ago," Joey Rodd told 7News. "The Sheriff's department and forensics car, but that was it. There was no like loud activity or anything."

Investigators have not identified any suspects.

The Greenville County Coroner tells 7News this is going to be a lengthy investigation and they are bringing in experts to help them solve the case.

Carmack is described as being 5-foot-10 inches tall and weighing around 180 pounds. She has blonde hair and blue eyes. Carmack's clothing description was not available.

Anyone with information about Carmack's disappearance is asked to call Crime Stoppers at 23-CRIME or the Greenville County Sheriff's Office at 864-271-5210.
