Hendersonville community mourns loss of long-time officer

HENDERSONVILLE, N.C. (WSPA) — Hendersonville police are mourning the unexpected loss of a brother in blue. 

Hendersonville Police Department Lt. Jimmy Case unexpectedly died Thursday, the law enforcement agency said in a news release. 

A spokesperson for the city of Hendersonville said Lt. Case was 57 years old.

Lieutenant Case served with the police department for 20 years. He was promoted to full lieutenant earlier this year. 

City officials say Lt. Case served as a K9 officer, motorcycle officer, hostage negotiator for the agency.
Prior to joining Hendersonville Police Department, Lt. Case served with the Henderson County Sheriff’s Office from 1984 to 1994. 

He was recently honored by the department with an award for his leadership. 

“Jimmy was a great man who made a big impact in the community,” according to the news release.

The department expressed thanks for the support of the community and other law enforcement agencies. 

Service arrangements will be announced at a later date.
