Holiday amplifies Upstate mother’s grief for murdered son

ANDERSON Co., SC (WSPA) – It’s been nearly 10 months since Bobby Harvey was found dead in Pelzer. His murder is still unsolved and his family feels the loss even more around the holidays.

“I can barely remember that first  Mother’s Day or Easter it’s just almost unbearable,” said Harvey’s mother Valerie Remsen.

While the holiday season is typically one to spread cheer, she’s still searching for answers.

“It doesn’t matter how old they get. He was my baby, he was my child – 44 or 64 it doesn’t matter to me it still hurts just as bad,” Remsen said.

Harvey’s body was found in a wooded area in Belton near the Saluda River in early March, four days after he disappeared from the Anderson car dealership where he worked.

His truck was found burned in Pelzer. Investigators also found Harvey’s dog dead on a roadside in Craytonville.

“I have to have hope. I have to believe that eventually at least hope before I die,” Remsen said.

She hopes that someone may know something, and come forward, now that they see his family is still seeking that closure.

Anyone with information is asked to call Anderson Police Department at 864-221-8980.
