(WSPA) — Hollywild Animal Park announced Thursday that it won’t open for the 2017 season and is likely to not re-open to the public.
Board member Tiffany Hughes issued the following statement:
“The board of directors of Hollywild Animal Park today announced that the park will not be opening for the 2017 season. Tim Todd, chairperson of the board of directors for Hollywild Animal Park, said that it is likely the park will not re-open to the public.”
Todd said a team of volunteers will continue to help park staff care for the animals.
Todd said financial issues caused the closing.
He says one of the big reasons for that has been a decrease in attendance.
Leaders noticed that started after a fire because they got a lot of responses from people.
He said the decision to close this year was tough for the board.
Several people were laid off at the park in January.
