(WSPA) — This week on Hometown Spotlight, 7 News is in the Land of Waterfalls.
We are in Brevard – a city known for its charming downtown, white squirrels and outdoor activities. Brevard is in the heart of Transylvania County, which has more than 250 waterfalls. That’s why it’s called the Land of Waterfalls.
Members of the Transylvania Community Arts Council tell us many of the downtown businesses are locally owned, including the Blue Ridge Bakery, Wine Down on Main, D.D. Bullwinkel’s & Rocky’s Grill & Soda Shop, Number 7 Arts Gallery, OP Taylor’s Toy Store, White Squirrel Shop and others.
Outdoor activities are the reason why many locals choose to live in the area. Fly fishing, kayaking and hiking are just some of the activities that are popular.
