House fire on Wilderness Rd. in Fair Play

OCONEE COUNTY, SC (WSPA) – Several crews were called to a house fire in the Fair Play community Friday morning.

According to Oconee County Emergency Services officials said firefighters responded to a house fire in the 800 block of Wilderness Road around 11:10 a.m.

When they arrived on-scene, fire was coming from the back of the home.

Emergency Services officials said the fire was under control in 10 minutes.

One person was in the home at the time of the fire, but they escaped from the home uninjured.

The cause of the fire has been ruled an accident.

The American Red Cross is assisting two adults and one child who were living in the home.

According to officials, 25 fire personnel worked at the scene for about 90 minutes. Those firefighters came from the following agencies:

  • Fair Play Fire Department
  • South Union Fire Department
  • Oakway Fire Department
  • Cross Roads Fire Department
  • Oconee County Emergency Services
