Housing authority pairs boys with older male role models

News

SPARTANBURG, SC (WSPA)- The Spartanburg Housing Authority will hold a Father’s Day event on June 11 for young boys that don’t have a father figure in their life.

The housing authority worked with local school districts and the city of Spartanburg to identify students who might benefit from this event.

They will be paired up with older male volunteers who are making a positive impact on the community.

The event will happen at Wofford College.

Boys ages 5 to 16 are participating and there will be food, entertainment, games and prizes.

Spartanburg School District 7 will donate transportation and pick up boys from their homes on buses.

Organizers are still asking for donations.

They also need non perishable snack items to be given to the participants at the end of the program.

Guest Speakers include Landon Cohen, Mitch Kennedy, and more.
