How much would your rent cost if you had to pay in turkey dinners?

COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. (KXRM) β€” How much would your rent cost if you had to pay it in turkey dinners?

Apartment List set to find that answer out.

The report contains rental price data for 175 cities nationwide. The rental marketplace company used listings on their web site and used that data to calculate the median price of two-bedroom apartments nationwide. They then estimated the national average price of a Thanksgiving dinner – including turkey, stuffing, mashed potatoes and pie – for a total price of $51.50

The average dinner price was then adjusted for each city and finally the rent price was divided by the city-specific dinner cost to arrive at the Turkey Index.

New York City takes the cake as the most expensive, where renters can expect to pay 70 dinners for rent this November – that’s equivalent to around $4,500 for a two-bedroom apartment.

Other expensive cities tended to be on the coasts, including San Francisco, Boston, Washington D.C. and Miami – which all required over 40 dinners.

Cleveland and Memphis were relatively affordable, at around 13 to 15 dinners, respectively.

Denver made it in-between, tallying around 31.3 dinners.
