Human remains found in Polk Co. well, man charged

POLK COUNTY, NC (WSPA) – Human remains have been found in a well in Polk County after a missing Spartanburg County woman’s boyfriend admitted to investigators that he put her body there, deputies say.

According to the Polk County Sheriff’s Office, Karen Denise Jenkins went missing on her way to Polk County in November 2017 and had been in a relationship with Polk County resident Jeremy Bradshaw.

During an interview with detectives and the North Carolina State Bureau of Investigation Friday, Bradshaw said that he had placed Jenkins’ body in an abandoned well on the property of a family member on Old Highway 19 outside of Columbus.

Investigators later uncovered human remains in the well after obtaining a search warrant.

Bradshaw has been charged with Concealing a Death and Obstruction of Justice and is being held in the Polk County Jail on $50,000 bond.

Deputies say other charges are pending further investigation.

The remains have not yet been positively identified and have been sent for an autopsy.
