CHEROKEE COUNTY, SC (WSPA)- Youth leaders in Cherokee and Spartanburg Counties are getting around 500 volunteers together for the “The Jerusalem Project.”
Some volunteers take off a week of work every year to make sure this project is finished.
This project will last for 5 days.
If they can finish by Thursday, they’ll have a thank you celebration on Friday.
Those hoping to receive assistance must fill out a form.
Organizers and construction workers go through the requests and find out which projects are needed the most.
Kids will be repairing roofs, building porches and ramps for people with disabilities, as well as painting.
Leaders in the church say their children learn to think of others before themselves.
It started small with 45 kids and three churches years ago. Now these kids and volunteers help dozens of people every year.
