I-26 reopens after crash in Polk Co.

POLK COUNTY, NC (WSPA) – A crash shut down both directions of travel on Interstate 26 for a time, Monday afternoon.

Lanes were blocked while firefighters worked to free someone who was trapped in their vehicle after the crash. That person was taken to the hospital.

The crash happened near mile marker 64 on I-26 westbound around 4:00pm.

The road was blocked for over an hour while crews worked at the scene.

Columbus Fire Department, Saluda Fire Department, and Polk County Rescue Squad responded to the scene.

The road reopened around 5:15pm.
