Infant dead after being left in car in SC

NORTH CHARLESTON, S.C. (WCBD) – An infant is dead after being left in a car in North Charleston.

Authorities responded to Roper West Ashley just before 6 p.m. on Tuesday, April 3 in reference to an infant child being deceased.

The father of the infant informed Charleston Police that he was supposed to drop his child off at daycare but he forgot to do so.

North Charleston Police officers at Roper St. Francis Hospital met with the father and mother of the infant.

The father told NCPD officers that he was supposed to drop the child off at daycare on Tuesday morning when he left his James Island home and then proceed to work. Tuesday evening his wife arrived at the daycare and was told that the child was not there.  The wife immediately called her husband and thatโ€™s when he checked his vehicle and discovered the infant was still in the vehicle and unresponsive.

The father drove the infant to the hospital where he was pronounced dead.

The Charleston County Coronerโ€™s office is investigating the manner and cause of death. North Charleston Police are also investigating.
