Inmate charged with attempted escape in Pickens Co.

PICKENS COUNTY, SC (WSPA) – The Pickens County Sheriff’s Office said an inmate has been charged with attempted escape.

According to a sheriff’s office news release, an investigation into the escape of two inmates on Tuesday led to an additional inmate being charged with trying to escape the facility during the incident.

Sheriff’s Office officials said Timothy Paul Lucero, 35, was charged with attempted escape and remains incarcerated within the Pickens County Detention Center.

His bond is $15,000.

Lucero has been in the detention center since Nov. 13, 2018 on multiple malicious injury to personal property, petit larceny and grand larceny charges.

According to the release, his prior convictions include third-degree assault and battery, shoplifting, larceny/breaking into motor vehicles and first-offense possession of less than one gram of methamphetamine or cocaine base.
