Inmate dies at Livesay Correctional in Spartanburg, coroner says

SPARTANBURG COUNTY, SC (WSPA) – The Spartanburg County Coroner’s Office said a 56-year-old inmate at Livesay Correctional passed away Thursday afternoon.

According to the coroner’s office news release, James Richard Gaddy, Jr., passed away at the facility, located at 504 Broadcast Drive in Spartanburg.

Coroner Rusty Clevenger said no foul play is suspected at this time, but said an investigation is pending the results of an autopsy and toxicology results that were performed on Thursday.

The coroner’s office is working jointly with the South Carolina Department of Corrections.

Gaddy was in Livesay Correctional on two sentences for trafficking methamphetamine.
