GREER, SC (WSPA) – Damage claims connected to last week’s hailstorm could reach 5,000, according to adjusters with State Farm Insurance.
More than 3,000 claims have already been processed in the wake of the fast-moving storm that struck parts on the Upstate on March 21.
“We didn’t see as much glass breakage as we do with this size hail, but as far as the sheet metal damage, it’s pretty extensive,” said Brice Huddleston, with State Farm Insurance Catastrophe Team.
State Farm set up a mobile unit at the Home Depot on Wade Hampton Boulevard in Greer to meet with policyholder and quickly process the claims. Allstate Insurance also deployed a unit to the same area.
Brian Davis, a Greer resident and State Farm policyholder whose home and two vehicles were struck by hail, says the mobile unit was convenient.
“I work close by so it’s a good time for me to come during lunch and get this taken care of,” Davis said.
State Farm says it will remain on site for about month and process claims seven days a week by appointment.
Allstate, which also requires an appointment to process claims, hasn’t set a timeline for how long it will stay in the area, but a spokesman said agents will be here “as long as it takes.”
