Greenville Co., S.C. (WSPA) – Dozens of suspected child predators are being pulled off the street in Greenville County thanks to a new investigative unit.
Greenville County Sheriff Will Lewis formed “Internet Crimes Against Children” or ICAC, a new task force specifically to go after internet child abusers. That was one of his campaign promises when he was running for office last year.
Within the past 45 days, 19 people were arrested. “Internet Crimes Against Children” or ICAC has a team of five people working to clear a back log of complaints.
“Now that we have designated to these, their sole responsibility is the ICAC and we can try to target and eliminate these child predators,” said Sgt. Ryan Flood with Greenville County Sheriff’s Office.
ICAC partners with several local, state and federal agencies on some these cases. Investigators are expected to make more arrests in the coming weeks.
