WOODRUFF, SC (WSPA) – Meares Land and Auction Company said a short notice timed online auction will be held to sell certain assets on property belonging to serial killer Todd Kohlhepp.
According to MLAC’s owner, Darron Meares, the auction has been set for Saturday, Aug. 25 and will end on Wednesday, Aug. 29th.
“We’ve got all kinds of tools, equipment, construction items…” Meares said Thursday, showing 7 News the items in one of the two storage sheds.
Meares said he first scooped out the property on Wednesday, before making it available to media, in order to get an idea of which items could be listed online to auction.
“We’ve got tool boxes full of hand and power tools, we’ve got boxes and we’ve got LP gas tanks…” he listed off.
A 4-wheeler and workout equipment were also seen inside the back shed.
Not all items, however, are up for auction.
The shipping container that kidnapping victim Kala Brown was found chained to had already been removed off of the property Thursday, and according to Meares, was in possession of the Spartanburg County Sheriff’s Office.
The auctioneer added that Kohlhepp’s status of a serial killer will likely attract a crowd of intrigued buyers.
“You could have someone that says ‘Hey, I want to buy a wrench from Todd Kohlhepp’s toolbox. You’re going to get a full spectrum.'”
According to Meares Land and Auction Company’s website, the money made in the auction will go towards helping pay judgments filed against Kohlhepp by the victims of his crimes and their families.
The items will be sold to the highest bidder.
The assets being auctioned off are located on Kohlhepp’s property on Wofford Road in Woodruff.
