HENDERSON CO., NC (WSPA) – Eighth-graders in Henderson County took a field trip to learn about soil, water, and the impact of recycling on water quality.

The students visited as part of the ninth annual Kids in the Creek program organized by the Henderson County Soil & Water Conservation District.

Students from Rugby Middle School spent their time at Mills River Park, learning how to find, identify, and analyze a stream’s macroinvertebrates to determine water quality.

The students also took soil samples and learned about the water cycle in the Mills River.

The science trips are being organized from Tuesday through Thursday.
